JacobRolf Jacob Sartorius was a Tulsa native. Due to his parents being not able to care for immediately after the birth of their son the child was put up for adoption , and then moved to Virginia. Adoptive parents took him to live within Reston, Virginia. He started performing in musicals around age seven. Before the closure of Vine the American short-form hosting site for video in 2017, Sartorius lip-syncing videos posted on Vine gained the service more than eight million followers up to August 2016.
